Bad Lauchstädt Energy Park

The future of green hydrogen in Central Germany

The Bad Lauchstädt Energy Park is the site of the first trial of the large-scale intelligent production of green hydrogen from wind power as well as its storage, transport, marketing and use in Central Germany. This real-world laboratory for the energy transition will encompass the entire green hydrogen value chain on an industrial scale.

Intelligent production, storage, transport, marketing and use of green hydrogen

Seven consortium partners are working to make the entire hydrogen value chain a reality by 2025. The wind farm with the electrical installations required for electrolysis is currently under construction in Bad Lauchstädt in Saxony-Anhalt. In addition, the site is also being prepared for the electrolyser, which has already been ordered. ONTRAS is converting the 25 km underground line between Bad Lauchstädt and Leuna to hydrogen transport. In 2025 it will transport hydrogen to Leuna for TotalEnergies. The Bad Lauchstädt Energy Park is Germany’s first real-world laboratory under construction as a fully-funded project. It is being funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action as a real-world laboratory of the energy transition.
