H2APEX hydrogen projects in the region

Green hydrogen production

In its core business, H2APEX develops, builds and sells or operates green hydrogen electrolysis plants. These are used to decarbonise industrial value chains and produce green hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives. They are used, for example, in the steel, chemical and cement industries as well as other energy-intensive industries. The company also offers systems for infrastructure and logistics, particularly for industrial use in warehouses, harbours and production facilities.

Several H2APEX projects in the region

As part of the IPCEI (Important Project of Common European Interest) funding, APEX is developing a 100 MW electrolysis plant in Rostock-Laage with a production capacity of more than 7,500 tonnes of green hydrogen per year. This is to be fed into the future hydrogen core network. H2APEX has already been operating a 2 MW electrolysis plant at the site since 2021. The company is also planning to build a hydrogen power plant in Lubmin with a capacity of up to 600 MW and a production capacity of more than 43,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year to feed into the future H2 gas grid.

H2APEX is also the general contractor for two mobility projects in the region. The company has been commissioned by Regionalbus Rostock GmbH (rebus) with the construction, maintenance and hydrogen supply of two hydrogen refuelling stations for 52 hydrogen buses. On behalf of Barnimer Energiebeteiligungsgesellschaft mbH ("BEBG") from Brandenburg, the company is also building two hydrogen train refuelling stations for the Heidekrautbahn.

„We are convinced that green hydrogen will be an elementary component of the German energy transition as a storage medium and process gas of the future. With the planned hydrogen core network and the favourable conditions for the production of sustainable electricity, northern and eastern Germany in particular have the ideal locational advantage.“

Peter Rößner, CEO H2APEX
